High-Tech Production Impresses the Igepa Group

Hands-on printing blanket technology: With a series of product training sessions and a tour of the production facility in Waltershausen, ContiTech Elastomer Coatings familiarized its new customer, the Igepa Group, with the benefits of PHOENIX Xtra BLANKETS.

About 35 sales experts from Igepa's offices in Queis, near Halle/Saale, attended the kick-off event in May and were informed about the entire range of heatset, coldest and sheet-fed offset blankets sold under the name of PHOENIX Xtra BLANKETS.

Other events together with sales personnel from all Igepa sites in Germany are planned for the coming months as well. The Igepa Group is one of Europe’s leading organizations in the paper wholesale business and has recently added printing blankets to its range of articles.

During his presentation of the Amaranth High Speed, Phoenix Journal and UVite blankets, application engineer and area manager Tony Tilocca explained just how much technical expertise goes into making a printing blanket: “With our printing blankets we are offering new products exhibiting excellent quality, stability and long life performance that are perfectly matched to the needs of our customers for each respective area of application.”

During the later tour of production, the guests were highly impressed with the precision and quality of the processes they saw, Tilocca added: “Our rollerhead unit is one of the most modern pieces of production equipment in the world. Together with the calendering process that has been used here for years now, ContiTech achieves not only a uniformly high level of quality but also an exceptionally low carbon footprint which has even been scientifically certified.”

Well cared for in terms of technical information and market-specific know-how, the group then moved on to the more relaxed part of the day: During a visit to the beer museum in Luisenthal the visitors had plenty of opportunity to talk shop about tailorized concepts and techniques.

And, of course, that means maintaining a lively exchange with our customers – completely in line with our motto ‘Your needs first!’”, said business segment manager Dr. Thomas Perkovic. “We’re looking forward to working with the Igepa Group because this is a collaboration that joins together two strong partners.”
